Having grown up right next to the ocean, I have had a natural connection with it all of my life. As a teenager I would regularly go surfing at my favorite spots around Cape Town, and now as an adult I still get drawn to the ocean for many reasons. Photographically I believe the ocean offers the most diversity in terms of compositions and shooting techniques because of the constant flow of water combined with the interesting coastline, making for endless foreground possibilities. Every shoot at the ocean is also full of surprises, as you never know what the water might do, and this thrill is really what makes seascape photography exciting to me.
